This gentleman was RUINED by a charlatan | DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE
Sometime ago, one of the lawyers in our network received a request for advice from a gentleman, a request that demonstrates how
many risks there are if you turn to consultants without real professional qualifications, who are nothing more than marketing experts who have devised an ingenious system to get the wealthiest paying exorbitant bucks, without providing real professional service.
The story is long but we will make it short.
The poor taxpayer has turned to a company that has a lot of online visibility, and that does a lot of advertising on the internet, which sells alleged services to reduce taxes and move offshore.
However, a company that does not have any type of qualification, in fact they are neither international tax lawyers, nor accountants,
and on closer inspection none of the members of their staff seem to have even graduated.
Through an ingenious system, this company managed to get 18,000 euros paid in advance by this taxpayer, for what subsequently turned out to be nothing more than a short skype chat, and a pdf containing copy and paste of documents, probably found online, in which some low-tax countries were described.
Based on this pdf, the taxpayer moved to one of these countries, but that company never even bothered to tell him one of the most
basic things, namely that at the time of the transfer he should have informed his country of the change of tax residence, otherwise he would have been obliged to pay taxes also in that country, and also for the earnings generated abroad.
Now after a few years, unexpectedly, this taxpayer, completely unaware of the error, has discovered that he is being sought by
the tax authorities of the first country, and that he is indebted for hundreds of thousands of euros in taxes, as well as hundreds of thousands more euros of sanctions, and even risks ending up in prison.
Be careful, therefore, because there are truly unscrupulous people, who do not have problems selling poor services for exorbitant amounts, not being bound by a code of ethics, as lawyers are, nor are they obliged to take out professional insurance, as the lawyers are.
