Armenia citizenship by investment

Armenia is considering a plan to offer citizenship to individuals who make certain investments in the country. The government recently released details of the criteria for obtaining Armenian citizenship through investment, which include making a donation of $150,000 to a scientific or educational foundation, investing $100,000 in an IT company or venture fund, investing $150,000 in a company and holding the investment for 10 years, purchasing $150,000 worth of government bonds and holding them for 7 years, or purchasing $150,000 worth of real estate and holding the investment for 10 years.

In addition to the investment route, the government also outlined the requirements for obtaining citizenship through exception, which include having 20+ years of work experience in a publicly traded IT company, 10+ years of work experience in science and authoring 5+ scientific articles, being engaged in the dissemination and preservation of Armenian culture, heritage, and identity, or having a scientific title of docent or professor in the area of healthcare.

The evaluation criteria is expected to be published by the end of January 2023.

It is not yet clear how the government will address the issue of military service for new citizens.

Armenia passport

The Armenian passport is a travel document issued to citizens of Armenia, a country located in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia. It is a relatively new nation, having gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, and its passport has undergone several changes in the years since.

One of the key features of the Armenian passport is its visa-free access to a number of countries around the world. Armenian citizens can travel to over 90 countries without obtaining a visa in advance, including all of the countries in the European Union, as well as Russia, China, and several other nations in Asia and the Middle East.

The Armenian passport is ranked as a Tier C passport, which means it is not as powerful as the passports of some other countries, but it still offers a decent level of travel freedom. It is worth noting that the Armenian passport does not offer visa-free access to the United States or Canada, so citizens of those countries will still need to apply for a visa in order to visit Armenia.

One interesting aspect of the Armenian passport is the option for citizens to obtain it through investment. The government recently announced that individuals who make certain investments in the country, such as donating to a scientific or educational foundation or investing in a local business, may be eligible for citizenship. This is a relatively new program, and it remains to be seen how successful it will be in attracting foreign investors.

Overall, the Armenian passport is a useful travel document that allows its holders to visit a wide range of countries around the world. While it may not be as powerful as the passports of some other nations, it offers a good level of travel freedom and is likely to become even more valuable in the coming years as Armenia continues to develop and strengthen its international relationships.
